On July 23-24 this year, the Nakusp Medieval Society will present the inaugural “Nakusp Medieval Days”. In co-operation with the SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism), a worldwide organization with 30 000 members, it is their intent to make this event an ever growing one in the future. The SCA’s Kingdom of Avacal (eastern BC & Alberta) and the Principality of Tir Righ (eastern BC & northern Washington) will create a medieval encampment, complete with a village square market where guests can shop for historically accurate wares and period food and drinks. With as many as 500 SCA members coming from all over Western Canada and the North-West US., SCA artisans will portray life as it was, with hands on demonstrations of their crafts creating beautiful and useful items from the Middle Ages. Local artisans and vendors will also be on hand to demonstrate their skills and sell their wares.
So come to Nakusp and experience the Middle Ages with events such as an archery competition, weapon throwing, tilting and battles. Demonstrations from bowyers, armourers, bards, blacksmiths, block printing, coopers, cob builders, fiber working, lamp working and even a fashion show. This is truly a unique event you won’t want to miss!
